Become a Host Congregation

Within the Emergency Housing of Family Promise of Greater Cleveland, churches and synagogues provide volunteers and accommodations for overnight guests, serving as an alternative to traditional shelters. Each host site provides hospitality for up to five families (no more than 14 people) for one week at a time, several times each year. Families stay at the congregation in the evening and overnight, and use our Family Day Center during the day, if they are not working. Family Promise of Greater Cleveland vans and drivers provide the transportation back and forth and we get every school-age child to their own neighborhood school so they can avoid transferring during their shelter stay.
