The Board of Directors and staff of Family Promise of Greater Cleveland join many other organizations in Greater Cleveland in declaring that racism is a public health crisis and dehumanizing to everyone it touches. As a family homeless shelter that serves a largely minority population, we see first-hand the negative effects that racism has on our clients' everyday lives, and in their ability to find housing and employment.

We are committed to doing our part to recognize, denounce and stem the tide of racism in all of its forms, including systemic racism and actions by groups and institutions that target persons of color. We pledge to provide the homeless families we serve with an equitable, safe and trauma-informed environment; to increase staff and board trainings on anti-racism; to strongly challenge unacceptable behaviors; to provide opportunities for intentional dialogue on racism; and to advocate for the rights of the homeless families we serve. We will not stop until race no longer defines which families can have access to housing and a brighter future for their children.
